Being a random collection of signs I find curious for one reason or another.

Beer Mission Accomplished

While we here are proud of the fiercely local nature of our beer - only beer brewed within the city limits of Cologne may legally be called "Kölsch" within the EU - we also tend to feel a certain amount of missionary enthusiasm to share the blessings of the local accomplishments with the rest of the world. So I was thrilled and proud to see that this small US brewery had undertaken to make a beer like our Kölsch. And pretty good it was, too - but that can be said of all the beers we tried at this fabulous little place. :D

Cape Ann, Massachusetts, May 2013.

If you're not from a Baseball-playing country...

No worries, we're all tossing really hard here...
(I did go and google the perfectly innocuous actual meaning of the sign, btw.)

This bit of potential for embarrassment found near a pitch next to the Breakheart Reservation parking lot, Massachusetts, May 2013

Woof!

Just a very cute (love the happy, tongue-lolling, tail-wagging dog!) sign with a nice pun for extra fun. Seen in Breakheart Reservation near Boston, Massachusetts, May 2013.

You can have too much detail, too.

Hallerbos, near Brussels, early May 2013.
Later that day of the three previous finds, we got to visit this beautiful bluebell forest near the city. (Note the blooms in the background.) And also found a lot of signs telling you what's forbidden, including this curious attempt at asking people not to leave the paths.

Now, the basic idea of picture signs is that you get the idea at a glance, even without words. A person leaving the path crossed out would've done the trick well enough. However, it seems what they wanted to get across was: "We understand you might want to take photos and in your enthusiasm you might not notice where you step - but, please, even for only a photo make sure you stay on the path!" - Which is a nice enough thought, really, but the result is, without the words ('stay on the paths, please') in my opinion it looks like it's saying "no photography!". The top left half of the sign, with all its interesting bits about the guy taking a photo, distracts the view from the important bit, which is the guy's being off the path.

Nice detail

Another pedestrian, seen on the same walk through Brussels. I liked this for the unusal realism and detail of the walking figure.
Looks like they invest a lot of creativity in their signs for pedestrians in Belgium. :D
